If you think you’re in the automotive vehicle service repair business just to perform service and repair broken-down vehicles, you better consider thinking a little bit more about this topic.
Today’s competitive climate requires us to do things that we would never have done in the past. We might be called on to help a customer understand different finance programs, help them arrange transportation, or provide a complete turnkey service that takes care of all their needs as a one-stop shop.
To position yourself in today’s market, you must understand the consumers’ needs and what they feel good service looks like. A willingness to charge accordingly while you provide these services will separate the winners from the losers.
Building Consumer trust through education is the best path to success. Using the digital tools we have available. makes this easily possible.
Next time you think about the type of business you’re in, just remember that service and repair of vehicles are only part of what you do.
You are really in the solution provider business.
Ask your client what they need. Listen closely, then deliver. Charge accordingly. Remember, when value exceeds cost, approval takes place. Deliver value and charge for it.
